When to Seek Therapy

Therapy is designed to alleviate distress and resolve conflicts by improving interactions among family members. The approach of ACT views problems as patterns or systems that need adjustment, rather than attributing the issue to a single individual.

Families seek therapy for various reasons, including divorce, parental conflict, domestic violence, family substance abuse, grief, adoption, abuse, blended or step-family adjustments, and challenges a child may face with school, substance abuse, or eating disorders. Major traumas that impact the entire family are also common reasons for seeking family therapy.

When to Seek Couples Therapy

If you and your partner find yourselves unable to progress and are trapped in recurring patterns, it may be time to seek the assistance of an impartial third party. Dysfunctional patterns in a relationship can manifest as blame, accusations, and communication difficulties. However, therapy is not only for troubled relationships; it also helps healthy relationships become deeper and more lasting. If you're looking to improve your relationship, couples counseling can be a valuable resource. It offers a supportive environment where you and your partner can work through obstacles and learn how to communicate more effectively.

My Approach to Couples Therapy

With my extensive experience and expertise in working with couples, I aim to guide you towards finding new pathways and restoring communication and trust in your relationship. We will explore behavior patterns from childhood to adulthood and their impact on your romantic relationship. Since needs and emotions are closely connected, our ability to express them often stems from early attachment patterns. This process facilitates positive changes in both individuals and the relationship

How The Sessions Are Set-Up

Typically, the process involves a combination of individual and joint sessions with the involved members. Therapy usually begins with an initial joint session to understand the reasons for seeking therapy and to identify the core issues. This session provides a comprehensive view of the dynamics and concerns. Subsequently, the issues are explored from the perspectives of all affected members. You will be provided with tools and strategies to enhance mutual understanding and communication.

From Conflict to Connection

Conflicts are an inevitable part of life and essential for growth. Arguing can clear the air, unlike sweeping issues under the rug. My focus is on building and maintaining trust in the relationship, fostering a healthy dialogue where decisions are made collaboratively. Moving from conflict to connection becomes easier with the guidance of an experienced therapist, and the right tools.
